|INAUGURAL HERRON ISLAND BIRD WALK
Our island ornithologist, Joseph Pentheroudakis, hosted our first Bird Walk. More than a dozen people showed up very early for a tour of inland birds. They even found pigeon guillemots, small black birds which nest in the holes of the cliffs at South Beach. Joseph hopes to hold another walk this fall when the water birds begin to migrate.
|HERRON ISLAND SAILBOAT RACE XXII
Seven boats entered the race this time. Of course, perfect winds before the race quit just as the race started.
George Newcomb & Crew won the mono-hull division.
Curt Bray & Keith Ellis won the multi-hull division.
Many thanks to Curt for hosting the race - this year he came all the way from Nevada to be here!

|KID'S FISHING DERBY
The derby is always a success, but this time, we had
more than thirty kids! The kids line up along the end of the guest docks to try their luck, and every child gets a prize.
Many thanks to Judy Grienke for organizing, and to Kathy Fennell and all of the other adult volunteers for watching over the group.
AND THE WINNERS WERE:
Most Fish - SPENCER SKUZA (15 fish)
Biggest Fish (tie) - JESSICA POWELL (7 ¼")
Biggest Fish (tie) - SEAN FEATHER (7 ¼")
Smallest Fish - JOE GLADOW (3 ¼")
In addition to the prize, each winner got a $2 bill!
|KEVIN'S BURGERS & BRAUTS
As he does every holiday, Kevin Tighe, along with friend Nick Reef, hosted Kevin's Place, our beachfront brasserie. Kevin has grown up while cooking hundreds of burgers and brauts for Herron Islanders. All of the profits go to the Boosters.
Thanks Kevin & Nick!
|NEW BOOSTERS MERCHANDISE
The Boosters have all-new designs this year, from the 2001 Boosters T-shirts & sweatshirts to official Herron Island ballcaps. Islander Jack Tavenner designed the new cap logo.
Thanks to all the Boosters who manned the table, including Linda Moren, Claudia Jones and many others!
Coming soon to the website - online ordering for Boosters merchandise.
The Boosters hosted the morning Cinnamon Rolls & Coffee and the Swap Meet. Barbara Haskins & Mary Turpin packed up after a long and profitable day. All moneys earned go directly to island projects.
Thanks to all of the Boosters for their
endless work on behalf of Herron Island!
